My iPhone 4s CANT RECOGNIZE OTHER IPHONES for iMessage

Hi,

I just recived my brand new iPhone 4s and I've syncronized my contacts through Exchange through a Gmail account, but it appears to have a problem when I try to send an iMessage to another iPhone (both with iOS). However, when I delete that contact and add it again in to iCloud contacts it DOES recognize the device as an iOS device (changing the green bubble to a blue one)!!

How can I avoid that problem without having to pass manually each contact from my Exchange contact list to my iCloud contact list??

Thanks!
