iTunes Match removed all existing songs from iPhone
Be careful. I now have 14G free on my iPhone! All my previously synced music (3032 songs) is gone! I have just the 167 songs I have bought from iTunes!
Watch out!
Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Thats the supported functionality.
You were given a warning it would do this prior to activating iTunes Match on the device.
Always pays to read the warnings.
A bunch of MacWorld advice suggested that it would leave the tunes on there that were there already.

Always pays to believe what you read.
In process now and the few collections on the ipad remain.. Perhaps software issue.. All latest updates installed?
Yes. iTunes 10.5.2 and iOS 5.0.1.
Will turn iTunes Match off and resync with iTunes via USB later. 3000 odd songs will take a while to bring back, especially as I use the Convert to 128k option. Shame it didn't work! 😕
UPDATE: Turns out that once the Matching process has finished, it is possible to toggle Match on and off on the iPhone and it doesn't delete stuff that is on the phone IF it is also in the cloud.
It does delete my music videos and there seems to be no way to put them back on. Anyone know how to fix that?
