Dear Csound1

Thank you for your answer. It helped me.

I have tried to install Windows Server 2008 R2 with Bootcamp on the latest version of Lion.

I had success. I activated the server, every driver was installed almost automatically (included: voice and the highest resolution on the screen, ethernet and USB ports). I only had to follow Apple's instruction during partitioning and formatting the virtual drive and dowloading the drivers which were automatically chosen by the installation process.

Try it, if you need to use Windows Server with all the hardver capacity of the iMac.

Dear Vmc555,

I am sorry that I haven't come here earlier. I was abroad, and I could not use internet as easy as at home.

I installed Windows 2008 R2 with bootcamp, and it works very well. I have never tried partitioning without bootcamp. I could activate it in no time.

Before the installation and during it I listened carefully tzhe followng youtube videos from "Windows7Forums":

How to install Windows Server 2008 R2 and How to configure Windows Server 2008 R2.

Maybe you are after buying MBP 15". I am really sorry I could not help you in time.

I am also using Oracle Virtual Machine, which was released in August 2012, and I could install windows server 2008 onto it, and works well.

If you have other questions, write me, maybe I can help you.

Kind regards,

Thank you for your kind,

Actually i succeed in boot camp, and i tried also partitioned as well, but after 3 portions there was some problem as we have to install EFI boot, and many have succeed, but i tried with M Lion, some issues, waiting for some one finds a way , me to trying ,

and Windows is Better in MAC than PC

I like to install 3 partitions

1) OSX

2) win 7 or 8

3) win 2008 R2 or 2012 Server

Info : I tried Vmware Bare Metal - ESXi 5, Hardware didn't support (POD- pink screen of Death)

Actually i need a setup for 1) R2- for Active-Directory(DNS) and at-least 3 R2 servers as local Host (in Virtual-box / Hyper-v) to try some Experiment

As i have 1TB HDD, i can do so, i am adding 500GB SSD Samsung ...lol

Thank you,

Hi, VMC555,

I used Bootcamp only with Lion on my iMac. It is a success for me. Windows 2008 R2 works with static IP address, and the Internet works, too.I haven't tried Bootcamp with Mountain Lion yet. I haven't even tried with Linux, too.

I tried virtualization. I use Mountain Lion on my Macbook. I installed Oracle's Virtualbox, and I installed Windows 2012 successfully. The only problem, I haven't solved is that, if I use fix IP adresses for Windows 2012, the internet doesn't work in Windows 2012. There must be a problem with the DNS Server too. I had the same problem when I tried to use Parallels on my iMac for virtualization. So I am not so familiar with server configuration, yet, but I am trying to be.

Please, write me, if you will have success in configuring Active directory and IP adresses in virtualization.

Thank you.

Yes, it is possible. Just dont download the july 2013 one. You need to burn it to a DVD, not a usb as the usb failed me and the installer didnt execute. I am currently posting this message on my Mac Mini running both osx 10.8.5 and Server 2008 r2 (Win2kr2). Even though its unssupported, It shares kernel with Win 7 and will work on even the Mac Mini 2012 that only can run 64 versions. I am posting this message on the server 2008 r2 installation right now. Very good. It works terrificly without any issues, and audio throught the hdmi to dvi adapter and then a passive dvi to hdmi adapter. A Terrific build.

Thanks your information pcfixer1. I finally worked it out and Windows 2008 r2 worked perfectly on my imac. And then I found that I actually needed to install Windows Server 2012 not Windows 2008, thanks goodness. Now I have Windows 2012 Enterprise installed on my boot camp but the price is my primary partition where mac 10.9.0.1 sit was ruined. Everytime I tried to boot from the internal mac, it showed an apple icon with a progress bar below it. And soon after the progress bar finished it shutdown by itself. It realy upset me.
