    Well there have been enough reports and posts here to conclude that this is indeed an Apple problem with their Appstore.

    All we need now is for media outlets to get a hold of this information, so they can get the news of this failure out to the public.

    Once that happens then Apple is bound to get moving on fixing their problems.

    Until then we will all have to wait.

    Same problem with iPhone 3G and iOS3.1.3 in Europe.


    I think that the APpStore doesn't work anymore in our firmware 3.1.x

    Same issue here, iPhone 3G iOS 3.0 (7A341).  Not sure if Apple will decide to patch the App Store app to support older firmware.  At least you can still download apps via iTunes and syncing.

    Same here in UK with Iphone 2 (who needs a costly data contract when wifi is so rife?! )  Gutted though, just wanted to get some DLNA apps tested for use at christmas...   Hope someone is reading this *sniff* - we can't spend our money!!!!!!

    yup I have the same problem UK iphone 3G running iOS 3.1.3

    I dont understand what the problem was before, some worked some didnt (it stopped you & warned you its iincompatable when trying to purchase anyway)

    seems like another bit of apples planed obselecance stratagy to make people by new apple products every 2 years.

    I suggest people advise the media of this (such as BBC's watchdog program the more they get the more likely they are to correct this). thats the only way apple seem to bother doing anything, if they get bad PR.


    I emailed apple support who advised me the following.


    "I've had this problem myself on my iPhone and the next few suggestions resolved the issue. I want you to try these:


    - Trying turning the iPhone Off/On


    - Try Force Quitting the App Store


    1. Double tap the Home button to reveal your recently used apps 2. Press and hold the App Store app until it wiggles 3. A red minus symbol will appear next to the app 4. Tap the red minus symbol 5. Reopen the App Store and try again


    If the above steps don't work, restore your iPhone, which will typically solve any issue you have with your iPhone. You can do this directly from iTunes, so your content can be backed up. I hope this information helps . If not, feel free to let me know. I'll be glad to look into this further."


    unfortunately the home button twice doesnt do what he says in iOS3.x & restore will update to 4.2 (crippling my phone)


    it really does seem to be an app store issue though, not a device issue....good to see the IT support guys there, relying on the old "turn it off & back on" answer 1st from the script.

    I have already restored my iPod 1G and rebooted and everything i could think of, nothing worked... I still think it's apple's update which has made it incompatible.

    Same problem here in U.S., iPhone 3G running iPhone OS 3.1.3. I've already restored my phone to factory default and the same issue exists. This is definitely an issue on Apple's side which Apple must resolve.

    At first my skype was not working then i removed it, and when i tried to install the install button was app install button doesnt work

    I just e-mailed them and they said upgrade the iOS.  I said it was not feasible, and their answer was to direct me here, with "Have a nice day!"  Completely useless.
