how can I reset safari without losing passwords?

I need to empty my Safari cache (it's been about a year). But, I've been told that my automatic password recognition from websites that I visit the most will be reset and I'm not sure if I can remember all of those pesky characters. What if I clear the cache and I am not recognized by my favorite websites for which I have extensive history and cannot access my purchase history, preferences, etc.? That would suck.

So is there a way to sweep out the Safari cache WITHOUT having to start over on all of my passwords/information.

Thanks for any input!

empty it and if you had already used it, the password will be in your keychain. just simple start typing the username and then hit tab, it should autofill.

your passwords will still be in "keychain", look for it in spotlight.
