Connect it to iTunes and Restore your last back-up, and then you can set a new passcode
You'll have to restore the iPad and then either teach your 5 year old not to touch things or keep it out of their reach.
i dont know how to restore ipad, and it belongs to my 5yr old son as he is disabled and unable to hold a pen or comunicate properly, belive it or not the ipad has helped him alot.
Connect to the computer and fire up iTunes. First, select (highlight) the iPad on the left-side panel and then select the "Summary" tab. Look for instructions there. Be forewarned that a Restore is not quick.
I wish the best for your son.
sorry for time delay but computor on go slow. I tunes would not connect to ipad as it says it is locked with a passcode and it needs to be entered first.

There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site. If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.

I don't think that anyone really meant to be offensive. So often we respond to questions posted by parents who seem to not have a firm grasp of what good parenting involves and some of us have become a little bit cynical when we see a post like yours.
We should not jump to conclusions, but unfortunately, that is exactly what we do all too often. We all wish the best for your boy and hope that the iPad continues to enrich his life.

I had just visited this page a few minutes ago with no issues. Guess we're in luck 🙂
we tried to restore ipad through itunes and it worked on second attempt. Have been trying to sort this out for 6hours. Am greatfull for all advise given. We are now looking to lock my son out of settings as this must be how he did whatever he did. we are trying to put all essential apps into a folder and then locking him out of it. He really loves his ipad and it has helped him with puzzles, letters etc.
Unfortunately, there's no way to lock the apps as you suggest. A few built-in apps have restrictions, and some apps come with password protection, but you can not put selected apps in a protected folder. To make them a little harder to access you could put them in a folder and then move the folder to a second page ...
