The iPhone could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible(iPhone 4s). What should i do? I just bought my iPhone yesterday and i can't update my software from 5.0 version 9A334) to 5.0.1 because the firmware(1.0.11) is not compatible.

I have the same problem. Tried to update to 5.0.1, but am getting the firmware error. I bought the iphone about a month ago, but this is the first time I am trying to update.

Your caps lock key is broken.
I managed to update my iOS by making the update directly from my iPhone. Connect to a hotspot and you should be able to do it.
Just to note that having encountered exactly the same problem - the download and update direct through the phone itself did work.
What happens when your phone is showing under updates iOS 5.0 Your software is up to date?? So I don't even have the option to upate the software from the phone!!

im experiencing the same problem rite now. i just bought a 4s for my wife yesterday. when i tried updating the ios to 1.0.5 directly from the phone, it showed - 'Unable to Check for Update. An error occured while checking for a software update. and when i tried updating it via itunes, i got this msg - The iPhone "xxx iphone" could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible.
my internet connection is perfectly ok here. can anybody help me on this?

Salut. Am rezolvat *** am scris si mai sus,am conectat iPhoneul la o sursa de alimentare si la un hotspot(wifi) si din settings->general->software update am updatat iOS-ul. Cat despre baterie,nu s-a schimbat nimic dar sunt o gramada de sfaturi utile pe internet *** sa-ti optimizezi bateria. Sper sa te ajute mesajul meu,Craciun fericit.
