i had that same problem until i enabled my Windows Module Installer (it was previously disabled by myself). to start that service, you just need to go to services.msc and look for windows module installer.

YOU ARE A GENIUS🙂

I cleaned up everything once again, and looked up in MSCONFIG.

My windows module Installer was indeed turned off, as you suggested

Once turned on, .... I was once again in the land of milk and honey.

thanks a million for your help

l3fox, you're a genius!!

I've had this same issue for a few weeks, and tried many different things, nothing worked. I went to the local Apple store today, and the guy said to uninstall 6 different Apple programs from my computer and reinstall them. Something to do with Itunes trying to download a 32-bit version on my 64-bit system. Needless to say, that wasn't the answer. Finally discovered this thread, and the correct way of fixing the issue.

Where were you a few weeks ago, before all of my headaches?!!?? :-)

Hi all, I know this is a very old thread, but I was battling this issue for awhile and wanted to provide my solution in case future users encounter a similar issue.

I am running Windows 8. I encountered this issue while trying to install iTunes 11.1 x64 version. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the real issue was trying to install the Apple Mobile Device service.

My resolution was installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package. It is available from Microsoft. A search on Google should reveal it. However, here is the latest link that I used: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=14431

Note that redistributable packages for more recent versions of Visual C++ (eg 2008, 2010) will NOT work. Only 2005 version worked for me.

Good luck!

I have the official update of Windows 10 getting this error and I tried all the methods above and still having problems. Prior to this many programs that rely on vcredit are failing. Adobe had me remove all vcredit, then one by one reinstall x86 and x64 this fixed no programs. I had to manually drag the msvc .dll 's into the program files application directory to get some of them to work, which leads me to believe in windows 10 they are no longer registering some of them. Confirmed this at Microsoft Support has gotten rid of some versions of the c++ runtime.

Not sure how this relates to iTunes but now i cannot install iTunes after I removed all the apple products this *****

The message "An error occurred during installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, type="win32", version="8.0.50727.6195", publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitrcture=..." may occur because a particular library file is not included in the distribution package supplied with iTunes. Installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update before attempting to reinstall iTunes may help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version, or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues, or for compatibility with QuickTime or third party software on 64-bit systems.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
