Safari won't load web pages

I am using Safari 5.1.2 and OSX Lion.

When I type in a web address and hit enter, the webpage does not load. It gets hung up. This just started happening. If I quit Safari and re-open it, it will sometimes work. I need it to work all of the time.

What can I do to have the webpages work all of the time?

Thanks in advance.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account, or is system-wide. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.

While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Any application you run will behave as if you were running it for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.

As Guest, launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?

After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.

Hi there,

I wonder if you can help. I am a web developer and use Safari for PC/Windows 7 for Browser Compatibility along side IE9, Moz 9.0, Google Chrome. I have updated from version 4 which worked great to the latest 5.1.2 but it doesn't work. I have tried several things but when it launches it just loads and loads. It successfully installs but can't browse. All other browsers are fine. I am using Windows 7 64-bit. I have tried to find the local cache files for Safari for PC but not sure where to look. I understand that most safari users are MAC based but there isn't support on the Apple site for 5.1.2 for PC only 4.0!

And this forum won't allow me to attach a screen grab (jpg) of it?

Regards,

Marcel

Hi Linc Davis, I have done this diagnostic test as you said. Logged on as a guest user and tried safari and it connected straight away as it should. After logging back in under my standard user name it hasnt changed of course. How do I resolve the problem? I have tried deleting and re-installing safari after downloading it fresh. Still it wont open any pages.

Firefox works fine.

There must be some registry files or something of the sort causing the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

cheers
