Yes, although you need to be more explicit in what you want this setup to look like.
Recently got a new Sharp Aquos as well (40LE830). Very easy to connect.
The "Wireless installation" section in the "Network setup" chapter of the user manual explains how to set it up.
Right after that you have a chapter on Net TV, which is what you get. Generally works very well, although the onscreen keyboard is a bit cumbersome if you're used to an iPad touch-screens ;-)
Tips:
- If your TV is quite far away from the Time Capsule: leaving some space between the TV and the wall greatly helps in improving Wifi signal strength.
- I bought mine in France which is where I live, but I'm also able to select apps from other countries, which is quite nice as neither my significant other nor I are French.
I have something along the same question although a little more in depth. I have a Time Capsule, which I am also using as my wireless router for my home network. But I just upgraded to the one with the 3TB Hard Drive built in and moved all of, well most of, my movie's on to the time Capsule's Hard Drive so that I could view all of my movies from any of the computers but what I want to be able to do is watch those movies directly on my TV. I do not want to use the apple TV or anything else if I do not need to. And since I will buy another TV if needed, I don't need to.
currently I have the new Sharp Aquos Quattron TV. I have it wirelessly hooked up to my home network already. I want to know if there is a way I can access the hard drive in the time capsule to view the movie files adn watch them directly on the TV, through the TV? Does anyone know if this is possible or how to do it? Or am I left to either use my WD TV Live or go out and get another TV like the Android TV's which have TRUE internet access. Unlike the Sharp which has false claims of being a Internet TV and only lets you connect to the programs and apps they want you to acccess, and in the "fake" browser can only view the websites they want you to view, which is useless being nobody carres to access the Sharp web site for anything LOL.
Would be great if someone could help me figure this out and I really hope the TV is capable of it and is not completely worthless as a wifi capable TV.
I know a very good amount about technology, electronics, computers, etc. and although I have not spent a lot fo time figureing it out yet I have been unable to do it, although it does seem like it could. the Xbox 360 has not been successful either although I also have a WDTV Live as I have lived by them forever having them on every TV being they are more powerful/usefull than anything out there including the Apple TV and also have MKV support which is huge for being able to download .MKV (BluRay) files and support playing them from any hard drive you plug in to it. But the new WDTV's have built in WiFi and it was successfull at accessing all the movies I have on the Time Capsule for playback, but the ONLy downfall to the WDTV's is their Oporating System is just annoying and seems so low quality. But the OS and menu's on the Sharp TV I find very beautiful and easy to use. so now if we can just get some useful power out of the thing it would be PERFECT and I would not have to deal with packing it back up to return to buy one of the new "TRUE" Internet TV's running off the Android OS's.
I hope someone can help here 🙂
I am on he verge of getting the Series 8 Samsung Smart TV
That says it is wifi capable and therefore I am thinking of the best way to stream movies to my TV.
My MAC is full at the moment so I wanted another method instead of using Apple TV.
Would you recommend the WDTV Live ?
I have the basic Western Media device where I plug in my hard drive so what is the difference with the WDTV live?
I have recomended the WD-TV to MANY people, it is one of the most usefull electronics I have ever owned and I own just about everything! It is great and the Live version is even better because I no longer even need to bring my external HD's to it. I loaded all my movies on to a 3TB Apple Time Capsule, and the rest on to another 2TB external HD which I connected to the Apple TC through USB and now my WD-TV connects wirelessly to my TC and allows me to view and play all of my movie's!! And the best thing about the WD TV nobody realized t that it has .MKV support so you can play BluRay movie's!
So yes, VERY highly recomended! Sorry Apple but the Apple TV is useless with a WD-TV Live
