Exporting Error 108

I'm at the end of my wits. I've got a sequence (about 16 minutes in duration) with a lot of different media types. iPhone, Canon 5D, & Panasonic AF100. So after getting all the clips I wanted in my timeline, I transcoded the media. Every time I export, I get the Error 108 almost immediately. I'm using the latest version of FCPX on Lion, a Mac Pro 12-core with 16GB of RAM, my HDD's have 231GB of 2TB, 1.44TB of 2TB, 1.21TB of 2TB & 343GB of 2TB free space on those drives. The original source media was on the last drive listed with only 343GB of free space, but that should still be enough, right?

I've restarted the computer, removed a couple of titles I thought might be related, I've tried replacing all audio files with aiff, and I've tried sending to compressor vs exporting with compressor settings.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Lawrence

Close all your projects, anything open in the timeline, and quit the app. Try trashing your preferences, repairing permissions, and rebooting. Don't open any other applications, and immediately try the export movie function from the project library.

Error -108 means FCPX has run out of heap memory.

Things to try:

  • Close all other applications
  • Go to the Terminal in /Applications/Utilities, type "purge" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • Use a tool like Onyx or System Toolkit to trash system caches.
  • Make sure you are booted up using the 64-bit kernel. You can find this out in System Profiler > Software. If it says "64-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes" then that means you are using the 64-bit kernel.
