I encountered this General -50 error too some weeks ago.

    Was quite puzzled ...

My guess is that it is because of the imported video I am using. It will proceed without problem is all input videos are in ProRess codec.

    Hope that helps ...

Then the fault I suppose may be in the clips that you chose to cut away ...

    From Crash Analyzer:

    -50 (QuickTime)

This error occurs when there is corrupt or invalid media in your timeline. Check that the codec used by the file is recommended for use in your editing application.

    Suggested Actions

    • For best results, convert all long-GOP media to ProRes.
    • Make sure all images are RGB, not CMYK.
    • Ideally ensure all images are less than 4000 pixels in width and height.
    • Use Corrupt Clip Finder to locate the corrupt clip.
    • After the corrupt file is located, use QT Repair or Media Salvage to fix it.
    • Make sure your files do not have Digital Rights Management (DRM) that prevent them being played outside of their intended application. Some files purchased from the iTunes Store will have DRM.
    • Make sure you are using AIFF or WAV audio files.

    I have two solutions:

    1. Extract the audio from the video. You will get two separate tracks. This helped me first but I was unable to rejoin both tracks again. (Is it possible, anyway?)

    2. Let FCPX analyze the audio of all used clips. You can do this clip by clip or create a combined clip and do it once.

If you make them into a compound clip. it is.
