Just got my iPad 2 and Facetime and iMessage won't connect. Its saying "check network settings", but my internet is working (I'm able to use apps and Safari) and my Apple ID is correct. I've seen lots of posts like this on other forums but no answers. Anyone able to help?

Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Thanks for your suggestion but unfortunately a reset didn't work, I tried specifically resetting my network settings as well.
Try signing out and logging bak in under Settings/Store and tap your apple ID.
And don't disable Facetime as that disables iMessage also. Not sure if that bug was fixed in 5.0.1
