Msiexec.exe System Error

Hello,

I recently tried to update Itunes for Windows 7. I downloaded the latest version of Itunes and when I ran the Itunes64.exe file a got an error message saying

"msiexec.exe - System Error -- The program can't start because MPR.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I went to Itunes support and followed the directions on how to reinstall the program correctly. Then went to reinstall the program and got the same error message. I now have no Itunes on my computer at all and am very upset. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Windows 7

Curious ... MPR.dll is a Windows Operating System file. (It's the Multiple Provider Router DLL.)

Let's try running an sfc /scannow as per the following document:

How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

Does the scannow repair any damage? If so, can you get an iTunes install to go through properly now?

Well, I clicked on the link you provided and followed the instructions up to where it says "right click on command prompt and choose run as administrator". I received an error message saying the following...C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe -- The specified procedure could not be found. So I am able to go no further. What do I do now? Thanks!

... okay. Those Windows OS files and functions should be available for you on a Home Premium system. Just in case, let's do a malware scan.

Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes an hour or so, depending on the system being scanned.)

Does the scan find any infections? If so, please paste the contents of the log file for the scan in a reply here so we can have a look.

Alright, I downloaded Malwarebytes AntiMalware and updated it then ran the full scan. It said there were no errors. I will paste the log below just in case you would like to look at it. What next? Thanks!

Alright...I ran Malwarebytes in Safe Mode and it returned no errors. The log is listed below. Also, I do not know if this helps or not. I was reading in the forums about another msiexec.exe problem and the solution was to update Windows. I ran the Windows Update and it shows that I have (12) updates that need to be downloaded. I tried to update them and received an error. So I can not even update Windows. This *****! Let me know what to do next. Thanks!

Hmm! Looks like you may have some errors in your hard disk(file allocations or bad sectors).

GO START BUTTON /COMPUTER, right mouse C:\ Drive and click "Properties"

Choose "Tools" tab and under error checking, click "Check Now".

Make sure "Scan for and attempt to recover bad sector" box is checked. "START"

Restart computer and let the Scan begin

This process may take few hour depneds on how big is your drive.

Good luck!!
