Time Capsule conflict with Windows 7?

I have just got a brand new Time Capsule 2TB 4th gen.

I can upload to and download from the TC by my MacBook Air with no problem.

But If I download a large file ( e.g > 1G ) from TC by my Windows PC, the Time Capsule will hang soonly.

I mean 'the Time Capsule hang', which means If I do something by Windows PC, the MacBook Air also can

not visit the storage of TC, the internet, and all things provided by TC.

My firmware versions is 7.6.

That is a new one to me.. I am a little confused which direction you are going in..

Are you copying from the TC to the Windows PC.. when it crashes.. ?

Or from windows PC to the TC...?

Are you using windows explorer to copy the file? Or a different tool or utility?

Are you connected by wireless or ethernet?? Can you please test by ethernet if you are using wireless, as I tend to think wireless is far less reliable for large file copying.

So when it hangs you cannot actually reach it via airport utility in the MBA??

If this continues, the first test I would do is downgrade the firrmware to previous version. It is more stable than latest one.

If that doesn't fix it come back and talk to us.. I am sure we can come up with a solution.. ! Or a work around.

I am copying from TC to windows by windows explorer and xcopy, connected by WIFI.

Both of the two makes the TC hang.

When it hangs, I cannot access the TC and Internet via airport utility in the MBA

If I do copy through ethernet, everything goes well.

I have tried downgrade to 7.5.2, it seems no problem with 7.5.2.

The latest 7.6.1 firmware has the same bug as 7.6.0.

I have the exact same problem with Firmware 7.6.1 on a 2GB 4th Gen Time Capsule. For me it helped to disable the Windows 7 search feature ( http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/10246/how-to-disable-search-in-windows-7/ ). But this is just a workaround and not the real problem solver. Since LiuZhiYaoYui said the problem does not occur with Firmware 7.5.2.

I've just bought a new 4th gen Time Capsule and have had the very same issue. Before running into this thread I thought I was doing something very wrong that I couldn't get it working... honestly since when does Apple ship buggy firmware?

Unfortunately with my Time Capsule I can't downgrade to anything lower than 7.6 (it came installed with that) so it looks like I'm returning it. I paid a premium for its additional features, it's really disappointing that it doesn't work.

I have a similar issue. I think the problem is not in Windows but in Time Capsule's implementation of SMB protocol. Dune video player connected to my network via wifi causes Time Capsule's 2GHz wifi module to freeze when I'm trying to play a movie from Time Capsule's disk. I.e. the wifi network is still visible but nobody is able to connect until Time Capsule is restarted. So far I have not seen any issues with AFP access to Time Capsule, but if a connecting device is using SMB (Windows like) protocol then definitely speed/connection issue will appear. Also, I've noticed that 7.5.2 firmware is not affected by this bug. Unfortunatelly, my Time Capsule was shipped with 7.6 firmware and AirPort Utility does not allow me to downgrade to versions older than 7.6 😟
