Quick Time won"t play .wmv and .as files

Where do I go to get downloads , plug ins or what have ya to correct the problem?

20" Imac Intel Core Duo, 256 mb vram Old PC user, first Mac

No problem. MPlayer is free for theMac and is also an excellent media player as well as being intel Mac compatible. I think it runs some .wmv but I haven't tried it for that.

I downloaded Flip4Mac, opened it and got this message:
Flip4MAc WMV cannot be installed on this computer,
Quick time version 6.51 or later is required to run Flip4Mac WMV player. I have QuickTime™ Version 7.0.4, Player Version 7.0.4 on a brand new machine.
Is there a fix around this , or is this one of the intel quirks to be worked out.Thanks for any help

The fix is to wait for the the compatible version or rather use other software, as mentioned in this thread above.
