saving custom crop

I edit many images for an online publication. The images have standard "custom" crops. Is there anyway to save my "custom" crops so I don't have to enter them every time I edit an image?

Should be similar to "Manage custom paper sizes" in the Pages app. If this feature is not available, it should be!

I set up a Template Project and put all the differents crops I need in the project. I lift the crop (adjustment) I need (there being only one adjustment) and the Lift & Stamp window shows that the correct sized crop has been lifted.

When I move to the project where I need the particular crop and stamp the selected image, the crop applied is not the same proportion. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

There is no way to create and save a custom crop in fact you can't even create a crop preset.

What you can do is create a version and crop it to the dimensions you need and then use the lift and stamp tool to copy the crop to the other images.

You can then keep the cropped version as a template (name it something that will make it easy to find and tell you the crop dimensions without needing to look at it). Then in the future youcan use the same techique to crop new images. If you havemore then one standard crop you could setup multiple crop template versions.

Put them all in an album called crop templates and you'll be able to find the right crop quickly.

Josper,

I believe the crop tool does not work based on proportion, but rather on pixel coordinates. That is, an (x,y) coordinate and a width/height.

You can view the x/y/width/height by looking at the crop adjustment brick when you have one of those pictures selected. What are the crop numbers on your "template" picture compared to the problematic photos?

When I lift the crop from my template, the pixel W & H are correct. I think the problem is the X,Y coordinate. When I stamp the crop, it must be stamping the new image at the lifted coordinates, which in some cases may place the crop or a portion of the crop off the new image. The stamped image is always a different pixel size than the lifted template image.

I'll try making a very small crop near the center of my template image and see if that works. If it does, I'll post as this might help others.

Doesn't work. It appears that the lift and stamp functions with same size images, as in working with versions and wanting to stamp certain adjustments. When I lift my tiny little crop from my template image and stamp it on my new image, I get a tiny little non adjustable crop of the stamped image--not what I need.

Oh well, maybe in the next version of AP

The stamped crop is adjustable. After you stamp the crop and the image assumes the new dimensions hit the 'C' key to open the crop tool. The entire image will be displayed with the crop. You can then adjust the crop.
