Logic 9 (9.1.6) -OSX 10.6.8 endless crashing - HELP!

Hello,

I am having real problems with Logic crashing all the time - it's almost un-usable. WOuld anyone have any ideas of how I can sort. The main issue is Ultrabeat. Changing/importing any sample into it causes a glitch, beachball and crash. Here is the crash report, but I do not know how to read it. Any help would be really useful as I have number of projects to finish.

I can provide crash report if this helps.

many thanks

MacBook Pro 2.8 GHZ Core 2 4gb, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Is Logic only crashing with Ultrabeat? What kind of samples are you trying to bring in? .wav, .aif? what bit depth and sample rate? Those could be affecting the project. Here is a tip to find out more about your issue - Create a new user on you computer and try loading the same samples. Does it crash? If so, then you know it is an issue with the system and can try trashing your preference files, running 32-bit (if you set Logic to 64-bit) or if worse comes to worse, reinstalling Logic.

Thanks for this,

The same thing is happening. I am loading WAV samples in 24 bit I think. Logic running in 32bit mode.

Can you run me through trashing the preferences, although I think I may have done this already.

I'm using MacPro 2.8gH. away from home so cannot reinstall at the moment with disc. I do have the same issue at home on iMAC too. It has started happening since updating the operating system to OSX 10.6.8 and Logic 9.1.6.

The latest Logic software update sugested that it would fix Ultrabeat crash issues but it's not fixed this one.

My patience is really being tested by Logic these days - just never seems stable enough to rely on.

Thanks for you r help so far

Your pref file is in your Home folder ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.plist

You could trash it (While Logic is not running) or you could move it to a safe place, test out logic with a fresh pref and decide if it is better or not. If it doesn't improve things, you could put it back and replace the new one.

If many people are having the issue, the solution may be Logic 9.1.7 😟
