wmv and asx files

Is there away to convert these files so they can play on mac using os x and/or play on ipod. I have tried isquint and tried quicktime. With quicktime I get the following "the application attempted to use an unsupported feature (-2053)" when trying to play a wmv file. With isquint I get error"maybe incorrect bit rate, rate or height

imac g5 with tiger not os, Mac OS X (10.4.2)

try Flip4Mac, it's free.. you can open wmv and asf files with quicktime and export it to quicktime based..

tried flip mac but that is when i get that error message

The free Flip4Mac component that allows you to view the media in QuickTime Player can't export Windows Media.
Ya gotta pay to export.
