Hey, i know that my macbook pro 13" 2011 (early) can upgrade to 8GB of RAM, but can it go up to 16GB? there was a website that said they do, but the max. upgrade on the store is 8GB, so tell me, can it upgrade to 16GB? and if not, why can't it? thanks in advance 🙂

The max memory supported by Apple is 8 GB. Some sources such as OWC, www.macsales.com say they have tested and stand behind 16 GB. But those two 8 GB modules are REALLY expensive. OWC is very good and I would trust them, but not for the price difference over the 4 GB modules. They will come down in price eventually.
Yes, you can. I just updated mine to 16GB, and it's running fine. Price wasn't bad, either. Fry's had a special on Coursair memory for $135 around Christmas. It's up to $169 now, but nothing like the $1500 it was earlier this year! The current version of Safari has a really bad memory leak, so even with this much memory, I'll still have to quit Safari every now and then. But, those times will be further apart now.
I also updated mine to 16GB today. But what I observe that it starts using swap after 8GB of RAM usage. Inspite of opening many applications/games, I was not able to use more that 9.5GB of RAM.

I just purchased 16 GB of Ram today and got a really good deal on it. I didn't think it would work either until I seen a friend of mine try it on his and it works great. He paid over $125 for his but I found some Ram on Amazon for $59.99.
I see that the 16GB RAM upgrade is coming handy while rulling multiple instances of VirtualBox.
16GB ram is the max upgrade to your mac and it is possible to upgrade it
When you upgrade it, your video card and your graphic card adds more memory too so your graphics will be a lot better on games
While adding RAM increases the amount of memory available to the integrated graphics, the performance increase for gaming is marginal at best.
Uttam, this is helpful. Are you actually seeing more than 9GB used with your VM usage?
