How can I view a .7z file on my iMac?

Since you are running 10.7, make sure the software you have is compatible with Mac OS X Universal or Intel code. Rosetta based applications won't work on 10.7.

Archiver and Stuffit both appear to support 7zip according to the Lion compatibility search.
