How do I solve greyed out music on my ipad2?
At first it was ok then i Synced soem apps and it greyed out many songs.
You'll need to manually manage the content on your iPad for it to not appear grayed out in iTunes.
I have had the same problem and after reading the forums, tried all the suggestion (Deactivating and reactivating iMatch, enabling home sharing, etc). However, I think I found the problem for greyed out items that wont play or download. My library originally was 31000 songs. iMatch will only match 25000, as stated in the terms and conditions. Since reducing my iTunes library to 24500, I no longer have this problem. Hope this shares some light on the issue for you.

I managed to get rid of the greyes out songs by manually snycing the ipod.Strange i was actually trying to sort a problem with Skype?

Hi - I bought a new mac, laboriously transferred everything from windows (as migrate *** wouldn't work) using usb drives, home shared all apps (so in app purchases would work) and then faced updating the iPad to OS5 and resync'd the lot.
EVERY single music track and podcast bar one are greyed out.
The playable track is in the middle of a ripped album???
All my music is from CD's I own. I've never purchased DL music from iTunes as I prefer to own the CD itself.
10 hours I spent on it yesterday and I'm miffed to say the least.
...at least I've still got the bl***y sumerfberries though eh? 😝
I figured out how to play greyed out music. Let me know if the following works for you:
1. On your iPad, select iTunes icon
2. Select " downloads" on lower right bottom of screen
3. Select " library" upper left corner of your screen
4. Select "more" lower right bottom of screen
5. Select "sharing", then " my library"
Music should now play in iTunes and your music icon. Try it and let me know.
