Download all Songs to iPhone

Worked perfect. I got a new phone and did not want to manually download over 1,000 songs. I don't mind to download each individual one after that. Thanks for getting me through the initial bunch, saved me a ton of time!

It seems there is no "download all" button at the bottom of the Songs list, so you'll have to get creative.

Create a new Smart Playlist in iTunes with the single criteria of "Media Kind is Music" and click OK. Name it something like All Music. Open the Music app on your iPhone and select Playlists at the bottom of the screen. Select your All Music playlist, scroll all the way to the bottom and tap the "download all" button.

Be sure and plug into power as downloading a lot of data of Wi Fi will drain the battery like a house on fire.

couple extended questions....

• Does the smart playlist keep updating itself (e.g. you add songs after you create the playlist...will the playlist be smart enough to see new songs or is it a moment in time thing?
• if you have done the 'download all' and you want to add the extra batch you have added....will 'download all' only download the ones that have not been downloaded or will it attempt to redownload everything again?

I am suprised there isn't a 'download all' feature in iOS.... for an iphone it is not as much of a deal (data connection) however with an ipod touch 64GB and being 'out and about' this kind of feature is sorely missing.

Sure. As long as the "live updating" option is selected in when you create the playlist new music added to the iTunes library will automatically be added to the playlist. The playlist will be automatically refreshed when opened on the iDevice.

Only the items that have not been downloaded will be downloaded.
