Upgrading to iTunes on XP SP2

This how I eneded up installng iTunes 6.02 on a clean installation of Windows XP Pro SP2:

1.) Download and install QuickTimeInstaller.exe (version 7.04)

2.) Reboot your PC.

3.) Download and install iTunesSetup.exe (version 6.02)

4.) Reboot your PC.

5.) Install QuickTimeInstaller.exe again (it will ask if you want to remove QuickTime- say, "Yes."

6.) Reboot your PC.

7.) Run iTunesSetup.exe again and do a repair install (make sure you DO NOT choose remove!!)

8.) Reboot your PC.

9.) iTunes 6.02 will now work and open up.

PS- I posted this in another thread but this actually worked for me last night on a "clean" installation of XP.

Please help me! I have also downloaded the new version of ITunes and can not open it. I have tried uninstalling it as well as Quick time. I have turned off my Norton and tried reloading it again. I am so fed up I am ready to flip out! I am not sure what to do because I have read so many of these forums and tried to fix the problem and I can't. If I have to restart my computer again I may just snap... 😟
