iTunes 10  on 10.6.8

i have a iMac 2GHz Intel Core Duo running 10.6.8 becasue there not allowing me to upgrade to Lion.

i have an iPad 2 and i cannot do anything with it with my computer because i need iTunes 10 which i can download but it never opens?

it does that little bouncey thing in the dock but then the icon disapears. To use itunes at all i must download an older version 9.2.1

were im confused is when i try to update to lion it tells me i cant, but then the newest version of itunes comes up in my software update, i download and it doesnt work??


any help would be great

    the latest iTunes version 10.5.2 requires the following, if you meet them, you should be able to download it:


    System Requirements



    • Mac OS X version 10.5 or later
    • Safari 4.0.3 or later
    • QuickTime 7.6 or later; Support for HE-AAC requires QuickTime 7.6.4 or later
    • 200MB of available disk space
    • HD TV episodes can only be rented in the United States
    • Ping is available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, United Kingdom, and United States
    • Windows XP SP2 or later
    • Windows Vista 32 bit, Windows 7 32 bit
    • 64 bit editions of Windows requires iTunes 10.5 Windows 64-bit version:
