Pages won't open in Lion

I saw someone else posted about Numbers not working back in June, but no one had an answer for them, so I'm hoping someone sees this.

I downloaded Lion a few months ago, but haven't used Pages with it until now.

I tried opening a couple of files in it (.docx and .pages), but the dock icon acts like it's booting up (bounces around) and then quits.

Any ideas?

Wonderful

Now that there are 17 messages in the thread we know what you are trying to run.

iWork '09 version 9.0.3 is obsolete from Lion point of view.

Go to :

http://support.apple.com/downloads/#iWork

Download one of the two updated pointed by a yellow arrow.

User uploaded file

Both would build a version compatible with Lion.

If you left the applications where they were installed and must stay : the folder Applications:iWork '09,

these updaters will apply.

It's really boring to be forced to ask the normal informations required to be able to give an accurate answer.

These required informations are :

the exact version of the operating system (you wrote that it's 10.7.2)

the exact version of the used application.

Helpers (which are end users like you) aren't sooth sayers, they can't guess what you are using.

Giving accurate and precise infos help us to give an accurate answer very quickly.

When the infos aren't given, everybody is wasting time.

I wasted sufficient time here and now, it's late. I will not explain in details why the infos must be accurate.

After 17 messages we know (at last) that

the operating system is 10.7.2

that the app was a component of the iWork package

that the source is the DVD version 9.0.3

We don't know for sure if it's this version which is failing or if the OP applied updater(s).

It's really easy to get the information :

menu > Pages > About Pages

User uploaded file

Sometimes I'm wondering it the users configuration is a secret protected by the FBI and the CIA 😟

Yes, there was a specific update of Keynote (version 5.1.1)

Is it really so difficult to go to the menu Pages > About Pages to get … at last … a precise and accurate information ?

We know also that Keynote received the very late update bringing it to version 5.1.1

Hello fruhulda

As the OP seems unable to know what her machine did, the fact that Keynote is in version 5.1.1 on the machine make me think that the updater 9.1 was applied but I hate to work upon guesses.

For sure, a good protocol would be :

download my uninstaller:

For_iWork:iWork '09:uninstall iWork '09.zip

apply it

install iWork '09 version 9.0.3 from the DVD

download and apply the updater 9.1

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1097

download and apply the updater dedicated to Keynote to bring it in version 5.1.1

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1477

After that, it would be good to use MAINTENANCE 1.5.0 available from :

http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php

or Onyx 2.4.2 from the same Web site.

User uploaded file

Apply the features checked in the screenshot posted above

Run also FontBook to check the fonts installed and repair problems if some are striking.

This scheme was described several times but it seems that some users are unable to look in existing threads.

My boyfriend found the solution to my problem in the thread "Lion and Keynote Problems" (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3199161?answerId=16621754022#16621754022) under user's therivers post on 11/2/11 at 6:07am, which coincidently states that your script is a key factor in fixing this error.

Just wanted to post this for people who also have this problem and don't appreciate the run around. 🙂
