iPhone 4 BLACK SCREEN? Tried hard reset.
Was using the iPhone.....it crashed and now has a dark grey'ish screen. Backlight is still on...wont let me hard reset or does nothing when i plug it into the pc....
any suggestions?

nothing at all happens. no signs come up at all either so i don't know weather its in recovery mode or not!
If you followed the article and it won't go into recovery mode as indicated (and the phone is charged), the you may have a hardware failure that will require a trip to the Apple store.
**** saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake! its christmas aswell so it will be closed for a few days. I might wait til the battery has died and see if it does anything then..

If this is not a hardware failure, this will fix your phone.
This will erase everything on the phone *****Warning******
Recovery mode will display a picture of the iTunes icon (blue background with a white note) with the iPhone usb cord. This will be on the screen of the iPhone.
My suggestions:
1) charge the iPhone if it can charge
2) then plug the usb cord into the phone and the computer
3) reset the phone
=> to reset the phone press the home button down and then hold down the wake/sleep button (the top
button/power button)
This should force the phone into recover mode. Once that is done, iTunes should give a message stating "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode." When you get this message, restore the phone and set it up as new. This will fix any software problem, but the downside is that you will lose your information on the phone. The apps and music purchased from iTunes can be redownloaded. The content you uploaded to iCloud can be downloaded.
If this does not fix your phone, the screen hardware is probably broken. I'd bring it down to the apple store to get the hardware checked, if not call up applecare support.

did you manage to get your phone fixed? this problem has happened to me too. the phone constantly hanged at the lock screen so i always restarted it. but after it hanged one too many times, i just let it be, suddenly the screen turned green and the whole phone went blank. the backlight is still on, but nothing will work. not even the restarting thing.
