I am trying to import mail from pc. I mailed myself (on mac account) a backup csv file which I made on earthlink mail. I cannot figure out how to convert it to mail on Tiger.
powermac 4,5,
Mac OS X (10.4.4),
just upgraded to tiger
The Mail.app does not store or contain an Address Book. The Mail.app is integrated with the Apple Address Book application so you need to import the contacts into Address Book.
Launch the Address Book application and at the menu bar, go to File > Import and select Text File.
The Mail.app uses mbox format for individual mailbox storage so importing a .csv file that contains messages will not work.
Which Windows email client were these messages exported from?
If you have an IMAP or .Mac account, you can transfer messages to the Mail.app via the IMAP or .Mac server.
Other than that, you need to export the messages in mbox format which Windows Outlook or Outlook Express does not support or use a Windows email client that supports mbox format for message storage to import the messages and transfer the mbox files to your Mac for import into the Mail application.
yes and I have used the mac account to do that with existing outlook express mail. But I have a csv file that was make to backup earthlink total access mailbox. There were 2 choices- dat. or csv format. I have both
I just talked with earthlink. Seems you can only use the 2002, 2003 version of Outlook- Not outlook Express to read this csv file. Insane I think. I have over 95 very special letters I want off this program........I am sadly disappointed.
