I have a similar problem: I bought a new IPod nano 7g two weeks ago and installed it as well as the newest iTunes-Version. I can now plug it in, and it is recognised by both my computer and iTunes, but when I enter the my IPod menue in iTunes, I cannot do anything, all I see is the start page telling my that I can synchronise (in theory). When I go to the iPod-menue, I cannot go back to either my library nor the iTunes store if i do not start iTunes anew.

When I plug in my old iPod touch, these problems never occur. I already tried to reset the iPod nano and to deinstall and reinstall iTunes from my computer, but nothing worked. Has anyone an idea of what I can try next?

I got the new 7th generation ipod today and had real problems getting it to sync. Someone suggested getting the sidebar up on the new itunes (ctrl+s or view, show sidebar) and it flagged up with an exclamation mark that my songs couldn't be played because they couldn't be located. I deleted all my songs from my music library and copied and pasted the files back from the My Music part of my desktop into my library, tried to sync it again and now my songs have transferred across properly. Hope this helps!
