I have a MacBook with a 2.1gz processor and 4gb ram but iTunes movies are choppy

I have a MacBook with a 2.1gz processor and 4gb ram but iTunes movies are choppy. I tried opening the movie in QuickTime but was unable to...maybe because it was a rental but I'm not sure.

Is there anything I can do to have a more enjoyable movie watching experience? Thanks!
