Q: network a floppy drive?

Can I network a floppy drive?  What I have is a Performa 6400 running OS 9.1.   It has an Ethernet card, and I can connect the internal hard drive to a less-old iMac through the router.   But what I want is access to the Performa's internal floppy drive, because I have a lot of material on floppies and I might want access to it some day.   I have opened the File Sharing control panel, and it allows network access to the hard drive, but the control panel does not show the floppy drive.   I opened the Multi-User control panel. The only name is in there is mine as "owner."  The "Help" menu says that by choosing options I can get access to a lower window where I can set "privileges" that might allow me access to the floppy drive.  But that portion of the window is dimmed, and I can't get it to allow me access to the "privileges" tab.

I don't want to spend money for a new external floppy drive if I can get the present, paid-for equipment to work.  Can I network an OS 9.1 internal floppy drive?
