Cannot delete songs off of iphone, under purchased but do not want

So i downloaded an album for my dad to burn a cd for him and after i burned the CD i went to my iphone 4 and found all the songs (which I dont want) on my phone.

how do i take them off?

i unselected them on my itunes and sync'ed and they were still there

all of my music is under one playlist and i sync'ed it again to see if they'd clear but they won't go away

I checked the playlist that i use for all of my phone songs just in case i put the songs that I want taken off in there and they are nowhere to be seen.

Ive never seen the disclosure triagle before (step 4) but see if it appears for you.

You can remove individual songs, audiobooks, and videos from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Removing an item from your device doesn’t delete it from your iTunes library.

To remove songs from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad:

  1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
  2. When your device appears in iTunes (below Devices), select it.
  3. Unless your device is an iPod shuffle, click the Summary button and make sure “Manually manage music and videos” or “Manually manage music” is selected.
  4. If the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad is closed, click the triangle so that you can see the device’s contents.
  5. Select the item you want to delete, and press the Delete key.
