Wireless all-in-one nightmare

Hello everyone,

This is my first post and any help would be much appreciated.

I have been trying for a couple of hours to connect a new Epson SX235W to my wifi network.

I cannot use the USB connection because of space constraints.

Epson's customer support is a complete waste of time as they "do not test the products to work with Apple prodcuts"

and "nobody in the office has ever set up a printer using Apple computers".

I use Snow Leopard as my OS

My router is a Time Capsule (1st Generation)

Using the Epson Software to auto connect to the network would timeout everytime and I noticed I was taken offline

and my TC became invisible. Once the software released my computer, the internet and TC would reappear.

The printer always remained offline.

I have tried to link up using WPS but I cannot find a WPS button (either real or software) to push which is apprantly

a vital part of the process.

Has anybody ever managed to get an Epson SX235W to connect to a TC run network?

Or can anybody recommend an All-in-One printer that will connect to my Apple computers/routers via WIFI out of the box and doesn't require

hours of fiddling under the hood or workarounds.

If anybody can recommned an alternative, I will return this printer to the shop and treplace it as despite all of its Logos on the box

it is not fully compatible with Apple's products.

Many Thanks for you time

I cannot help with suggestions of new printers.. but I would definitely go with something airprint compatible which seem mostly to be HP.

The TC doesn't use WPS.. but that is just a simplified system of getting wireless security happening.

I have done the install with an epson wireless.. forget the model.. but it was not easy. The basic steps are as follows.

1. Assume the epson is dumb windows product.. so it will have issues with Mac networking names that are not PC compliant. So make sure your TC is named something without spaces or non alpha-numeric characters. My TC is named TC2.. not Apple Network e29e99. Same with wireless name.. make it short and simple.. TC24 and TC5 for example.. use different names for 2.4ghz and 5ghz.. but no . in the name. Then wireless security same rules eg mytc2passwordsucks

Use wpa or wpa2 for security. Ok now you have a network that at least looks like the epson can join it.

2. Plug the epson into the computer by usb and run the setup cd. Setup wireless in infrastructure mode. And put in the SSID and security settings for the TC you have just done.

3. Unplug the printer and restart it.. check the TC shows the wireless client has joined being the epson printer.. this will show up in advanced / logging and statistics / log and statistics / wireless clients.

4. On the computer you should now be able to locate the epson as network available printer.. but I had to do this a couple of times by removing all the printers and redoing the find the printer.. it gets lost if the printer was plugged in locally then available network.
