12 days of christmas - 2011

Hey guys

I've downloaded Apple's 12 days of Christmas this year and it's the 26th today, so i should be able to download the first present.

But when i press the "free in itunes" and being transferred to iTunes on my iPod, then i wait a bit and it says "Your request could not be completed".

I'm danish and bought my iPod there, but right now i'm in Venezuela. Could it affect something, because the first gift is a single from Coldplay and the iTunes festival and i've read that it's only in most of Europe and Canada that it's avalible as the first gift.

Got any idea to what i can do?

And Merry Christmas !

I have the same problem (unable to download the shown content) and I'm not even travelling.

I live in Finland, have my account linked to the Finnish Store and downloaded the "12 days" application to my iPhone while being in Finland. Opened the app yesterday (and today) in Finland and both days the given gift was not available in the iTunes-store.

Day 1: Coldplay Single

Day 2: Top Gear show

Anyone from Finland here that have different gifts showing up in the "12 days"-app??

I'm experiencing the same problem in Finland (neither gift has worked). It's originally a UK-bought phone, but located in Finland with a Finnish App Store account that works fine for normal purchases. The language of the phone is English, but the App Store app has been showing mixed English/Finnish ever since the 5.0 iOS upgrade. I tried with the phone set to Finnish as well, but didn't have any better luck that way.

I would suggest you go to the 12 days App Store page (in your iPhone) and there's a "report a problem" button near the review button. Just submit a problem report through there and it should eventually get Apple's attention. They might even say "sorry", but don't hold your breath waiting.

The promotion wasn't available to US customers. I think it was for Europe only or something like that? Based on comments from Finnish users, the app and the gifts were working correctly in Finland last year. The gifts may not have been spectacular, but some people found them useful or entertaining.

Come to think of it, I was able to get a free copy of SoundHound using the app just before Christmas. I think the issue is that some of the gifts haven't been made available in all the local stores that also distributed the app. If your store doesn't distribute the app, you can't get the gifts either.

I'm in Belgium and had the same thing. Turns out the app is looking at the "Settings > General > International " configurations. I had mine set to uk settings, including region format and Keyboard, when I changed those to Belgiium everything worked just fine and the 1é Days app showed me different content. Note that I left the language to English as that didn't had any effect (luckily).

Changed those options and reinstalled the app, then it worked perfect. Now instead of the Topgear item I can see the remastered version of Broken Sword. I don't know whether you need to re-install the 12 Days app, but I was getting annoyed:-)

Hope this works for you! Merry x-mas :-)
