microsoft office text is invisible

I just bought an Intel-based iMac and had MS Office student version installed. When I pull up old spreadsheets or word processing documents, the text is invisible. When I say "old", I mean MS Office X for the previous iMac design (Motorola-based, pivoting flat panel, 19" panel). How do I fix this?

The first thing to try is to check the font color in case, in importing, the font color in the old docs changed to white.

You can also try switching the View option in Word Preferences > General to "Blue background, white text" to see if the text is really there:

If that doesn't work, you'll need to seek help in Microsoft's Office for MAc support forums. They are quite useful:

Office for Mac forums

Office is not an Apple product so there is little help in Apple's forums for it. Be sure to repeat your Mac OS version and Office versions when posting in the MS forums.
