Save and Cancel buttons

If I attempt to close [CMD-W] a document I have been writing without first saving the changes I am prompted by a dialog with three choices for the question "Do you want to save changes to this document before closing?" : Don't Save, Cancel, Save. The Save button is highlighted in blue, the Don't Save button is lined in blue and the Cancel button is clear. I'm trying to avoid mouse clicking. To Save I just hit Enter. Which keys do I hit for Don't Save or Cancel.

Similarly, if Mail.app receives an email larger than my preset limit for automatic downloading it will offer me choice of Skip, Delete or Download. Which keys do I hit for Skip or Delete.

Thanks

In most programs Command + D will be don't save and Command + . will be cancel. If that doesn't work go to System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts and make sure that the All controls radio button is selected at the bottom. This will then allow you to use the space bar to select the lined option and the tab key to shift the line option.

Not sure about Mail, but the all control keyboard should work.

Hi Peter,

I know that to Don't Save is Command ()-D But I don't know about Cancel.

As for Mail, I am also not sure because applications are different from each other. I suggest opening up Mail.app and going to the Help or (-?) menu and click Mail Help. When Help Viewer opens go down to Index and click on the link that says Look Up Topics Easily. After that click on the S and go to Shortcuts. It is pretty much the same thing with ever application.

I hope that helps,
Jon

Shortcuts in my Mail Help does not show what I am looking for [Mail 2.0.5 (746/746.2)]. My version of Mail must be different from yours.

Thanks for your input.
