iPad and iMac good combo for college students?

I am a college student who currently owns a MacBook Pro as my only computing device (I don't count my iPhone). I am considering 'getting rid of' my laptop, and getting an iMac desktop instead, (since my laptop hardly ever leaves my desk anyway) along with an iPad. My question is, if what I plan on doing with my iPad is heavy media consumption (tv shows, music, web surfing, e-mail, facebook, a few games, looking at trailers and You Tube videos...) and some light word prossesing via the pages app, can it replace my laptop if I repalce my laptop with an iMac?? I rely on pen and paper for notetaking in class, but would love to have an iPad to use the internet and do research at school, since it's lighter and easier to tote around campus than my laptop, but has a larger screen than my iPhone.

Anyway, I wanted to know from some people who have put the iPad through it's paces if an iPad and iMac are a good combo for me, or maybe iHave too many Apple products already:) Thanks so much for you time and help.🙂

The iPad browser apps, facebook apps & email apps aren't as good as those on your MBP. Games are great on the iPad. The iPad maxes out at 64GB for file storage; your MBP can far exceed that. Suggest you get a quality flat screen monitor to use with your MBP. This will be equivalent to having an iMac. Get an iPad along with a case that includes a bluetooth keyboard. Then you'll have a mini-laptop to take to class. The kbd is much easier to use compared to the iPad on-screen kbd. I bought an Adesso case/keyboard model WKB-2000CD http://www.adesso.com/en/component/content/article/49-coming-soon/455-wkb-2000cd .html Works great & looks good. Do a Google search using the model number to get the best price.

 Cheers, Tom 😉
