Forgot iPad password, can't restore device because it is locked

I forgot my ipad (1) password and but I can't restore the device because when I plug it into my computer (not the original computer it was synced with, which I don't have anymore), it tells me that the device is locked. Please help. I don't care about losing the apps, data, etc. Just need a working iPad.

You can restore with any computer but you will lose all of your content. You can download apps, music, books and TV shows again (if you live in the U.S.) - but you are going to lose all of your photos, app data, settings and things like that.

You can read this about restoring.

iTunes:Back up, updating and restoring iOS software

You may have to force the iPad into recovery mode in order to restore when you can't bypass the passcode

I have the same situation and this solve is not working for me... I keep getting the " ITunes could not connect to this iPad because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes..."
1. I don't know the passcode.

2. The original computer this iPad was synced to has been stolen.

It is not showin up anywhere in the left hand column of iTunes either.

I know if I restore it, I will lose all data. That doesn't matter to me, I can re-sync later with new stuff. But I am totally locked out of this iPad.. Ugh.

I'm having the same trouble. I get into Recovery Mode, iTunes says it's going to download and update and restore the device. Download is almost finished, iTunes says it cannot continue because the device is locked with a passcode. Can anyone link to instructions that will work in this scenario?

Edit: I was able to get this method to work but I had to move to a different computer, a PC instead of a Mac, with an older version of iTunes (blue icon not red). Not sure what actually made the difference but that is what worked for me.
