Make Command

Hi Guys,

Trying to run through this process so that I can use Ruby on Rails :
http://hivelogic.com/articles/2005/12/01/rubyrails_lighttpd_mysqltiger

But when I make it to the section for making the files and compiling them I get an error that says Make command no found and also :
No C Compiler found

Any idea what I need to do so I can follow that though?
