Transfer iTunes library to new computer

I am getting a new computer with a much bigger hard drive and want to transfer my itunes library. I have bought many songs, movies, and tv shows and have imported almost all my cd's and do not want to have to do that again. I am having problems finding how to transfer everything and not lose it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

i downloaded a product called "music rescue" that might help. but if some or all of your library didnt come off of itunes, they wont transfer the first time. you might have to try again with just those songs. in the column on the farthest right, there will be either a green or a gray circle. if the circle is green, it will copy automatically. if it is gray, it will need to be copied on the second round. 🙂

See Here for one way

iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer

Or...

From your Old Computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

Backup iTunes to an External Drive

An Added Bonus is that you will then have a Backup of iTunes...

Will the process described here - backing up and copying the backed up library to the new machine - keep all the apps and other iOS information in tact so that my iPhone that was synced to the first computer syncs to the new one.

The idea:

MacMini currently has all media on it and syncs with iPhone.

New MacBook Pro wants to have the same library and sync with same iPhone as the MacMini.

Would I then also be able to sync the iPhone with either Mac? Is there another (better) way to do this?

Thanks

Yes, provided you backup/restore or otherwise copy the entire library (media & database files) to the new computer iTunes will see itself as the "home" library for your device and sync with it as if nothing has changed.

If your media is in the default layout of an iTunes Media folder inside an iTunes library folder then copying the iTunes folder into the music folder of your profile on the new computer will do the trick. However if your media is split onto separate drives then the the media needs to be restored to precisely the same paths on the new computer, or the library needs to be made portable before the transfer.
