I bought 2 pieces of software.. iLife and iWork 06 from the retail store. Got them home, installed them on one of my macs. Was in the process of installing them on another, and realized I had purchased the single license version of iWork instead of the family pack. (I grabbed the correct iLife06 box at least.)
So, called the retail store to let them know of my mistake and asked if I could bring it back in to exchange for the family license.
They said I had to call customer service. I called the customer service 800 number, and they directed me to call the retail store back. I called the retail store back, and they said I had to speak to customer service. You get the idea.
Anyways, after a couple iterations, I gave up.
I realize this was my mistake, but I was hoping apple would be willing to work with me to remedy the situation. It seems silly to me that grabbing the wrong box off the shelf should be an 85 dollar mistake, especially when I am just looking to upgrade the license. But there are only so many times i can bounce between the separate customer support groups before becoming completely discouraged.
So, to answer the question "which customer support" group do i want to leave feedback for? Well, all of them. Customer support in general. There seems to be a disconnect between the retail stores and the people manning the 800 number.
