i have a Macbook pro 15inch from around 2009, i am wanting to add more ram what is the maximum amount of ram that i can safely install?

It currently has 2gb of ram. i am looking for the most ram that i can install without endangering other components of the computer.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

We need something more than "about 2009" to give you accurate advice on RAM exansion. Please do "About this Mac" from the Apple menu and, in the resulting window, click the "More Info,,," button. That launches System Profiler for you.

Note the SECOND LINE under "Hardware Overview." That numeric code will identfy your exact version. Please post the code--don't post any serial numbers.


With that we can give you an accurate answer. If you post you approximate geographic location, we may be able to point you to some Mac-savvy RAM vendors, too.
