My iDisk appears to be stuck in the clouds. No I'm not joking! This has happened to me before, but it was just in time for a hard drive wipe, so I never delt with it. If I click on the drive, The name of the disk appears, and all works normal, just very anoying when I'm dealing with all of my externals. someone have a fix, or will hard drive list in finder be etternaly overcast?

You mean, you can close the window and when you open it again the smoke is still there?? This weirdness survives a Finder relaunch?

Yes! Its been there through the reboots and resets all of this month.
Have you tried hiding and re-showing the Sidebar?
I tried that, and unchecked and unchecked all view options...
This is truly challenging.
Have you tried trashing any preference files yet?
What about closing all Finder windows, then trashing ~/Library/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist ?
Do you see this with other users, e.g., Guest? Probably not.
Have you tried booting in Safe Mode yet?

Interesting... in Lion, the guest account reboots into it what looks like a tiny independant os in which all you can use is safari. I made a temp user, and no it did not show up there. Trashed the plist and its still overcast! If its any relevance, my walpaper likes to default to the original lion bg every time I login. Also to make matters confusing, If I launch a finder window as a small window, where I would have to scroll the side bar to see the disk, and expand it, its not there.
Hmmm... when I log into guest I get more options than that, e.g., I can open a Finder window.
The Safe Boot, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, might still be worth trying. Among other things it resets some caches which are perhaps related to your very puzzling, uh, puzzle.
