How do I attach multiple files in an email on my ipad2?

How do I attach files in an email on my ipad2? Also, how do I put all of my documents into one folder on the home screen? I'm very tech savvy and I'm frustrated at the lack of basics on this ipad.

Thanks,

Deanna

Your header and the question in the body of your post differs in relation to emails, one is multiple files and the other is files!

Firstly, you click on the document and then you get an option to email it (arrow within a box, but this varies from app to app. This means that you can only send one attachment at a time. There is a workaround, perhaps with another app, but I just forget the answer at this moment.

Not sure about putting all your documents into one folder on the Home screen. Are you confusing this with organising icons into folders on the Home screen. See Ch 3 of the User Guide (Basics)

Hi Deanna

I think you misunderstand the design philosophy of the iPad - it's a media consumption and basic communication device. Approaching it as a computer with a file system is not how it is designed to be used.

But to your question - basically multiple attachments in the way u r thinking are a hassle. My solution is to save attachments received in emails to a third party app. Good Reader has VERY POWERFUL file management support including allowing you to select multiple files and then email them. Good Reader gives you some of the file system functionality you crave - also allows you to find / select / move / copy files. Including to services like Mobile Me and Drop Box etc etc

I have to disagree with you there. The iPad has thousands of office productivity apps, including word processing software and is marketed as a "do it all" type device. Therefore it should allow a function as basic as multiple attachments. It is insane to have to have all these workarounds for such a basic need. I just about threw this thing out he window trying to send a multi attachment email. Ended up emailing docs one at a time to my Android phone to avoid sending a client multiple emails on the same subject. Sometimes being different isn't cool and this is definitely one of those times.

Like you, I suffered from "paperclip withdrawal symptoms" using the iPad and iPhone Mail app to email documents. As much as I love these iDevices, I'll forever hope that Apple eventually builds the handy paperclip feature into the Mail app, which we've become so accustomed to in other email systems .

That said, most third-party office productivity apps and some juiced-up email apps make it so simple to attach multiple docs to an email. On an iPad, you need at least one of them to store the documents you wish to carry around with you and/or share through email. Other than GoodReader (an excellent productivity app!), there are a lot of other well-rated apps you can choose from. I've been using "Air Sharing Pro" and "Group Email with Attachments" for almost a year now -- they're almost as second nature to me now as the paperclip.

I will soon be updating a post I wrote last year about this issue but you may still find it useful. See http://groovinonapps.com/how-to-send-multiple-attachments-on-the-iphone/. Hope this helps.
