How do you create documents on iPad?
Is pages the only app available to create documents on the iPad and will those documents be compatible with word?

There are many apps to create documents on the iPad and yes with Pages you can save as a Word document. There is also Quick Office, Documents to Go, etc. Go to http://www.appshopper.com and do a search for iPad apps.
