Inserting pictures and getting a black screen instead

I'm on Lion latest version, trying to insert pictures in my movie using iMovie 11.

The picture doesn't show but a black screen instead, either if I try to insert, replace, side by side, any option.

What am I doing wrong? Working on a brand new MBP on 4GB ram.
