What is a good replacement for quicken?

I have used and liked Quicken since ver.1.

Now they have abandoned support for the basic software, as they did with Quickbooks for years.

I don't want to buy essentials then have to rebuy the 'new' version they 'promise' for spring.

Anybody fgured this out?

There are a lot of apps that you can use. Personally I got iBank and have been pretty happy with it. You can download a 30 day trial that comes with support. It will import Quicken data too however you would need to export your Quicken data in a Snow Leopard partition. You can also look in the Mac App store there are number of other alternatives most with reviews albeit very brief reviews.

After being a Quicken user for 18 years, but also a big Mac user, we switched to iBank due to Lion. The email & web support is incredible. Yes, there are issues, but there were with Quicken. Everything has a learning curve and mine was about 2 weeks. The challenge for me was working in 2 currencies which Quicken never supported so a plus for me even though there are some issues with iBank.

Investments were my biggest challenge but it works better then Quicken now that we are set up.

Reports are so different to Quicken...but again..theya re powerful IF, you learn how to use them.

You need to put time into a new program...if not, you will never be happy in what ever you choose and it is your money so no one will know what you need unless you set up and bond with a program.

I love iBank and find it better then Quicken all around but I spent time to Learn the program.

I'm using iBank and am satisfied with it. My only problem is that for Category reports there are no "Category Summary Reports" available. I used these in Quicken to get information to the person who prepares my income tax returns. I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. I may have to prepare separate summary reports on my own; not the best alternative. Still in all, I do like iBank and plan to stay with it.
