Yes, you can.
Just be sure that all devices/computers are on the same network (wifi connection).
Matthew - thanks for the super-fast reply !
Do you know if the wake-up function also works with a PC ? or is that Mac only ?
Sorry, but "wake-up" function?
Excuse me, it's rather late where I am. Ha.
I read that if the computer is asleep the Remote app can wake it up in order to access iTunes
From my experience (with Mac and PC) if the computer is asleep, it does not transmit the library information and cannot be accessed or woke.
I just attempted with my currently sleeping iMac, and indeed it is still asleep.
Its information did not even appear in the Remote app.
Thanks Matthew.
Glad that I could help.
Sorry for starting the discussion again.
But at http://www.apple.com/itunes/remote/ you can read:
"...touch Retina displays. And if your Mac is sleeping, Remote wakes it up so you can access all your digital media on iTunes."
So, how does it work?
I have an iPhone4 with remote app and a MacBook Air with MacOS 10.7.3.
"Wake for Wi-Fi access" is already turned on in energy saver preferences.
And totally frustrating for me, in these discussions people complain about this feature:
- iPhone remote app wake up my iMac (OSX Lion)
- Stop wake iMac with remote app
Any idea?
This remains the wrong forum for this issue. This forum is for questions about Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Macs. Ask in the iTunes forum.
Regards.
