multiple midi controllers for Logic, with split keyzones?

Hi everyone,

I'm in a bit of a pickle and hope someone can help. Trying to use two midi controllers (Korg padKONTROL drumpad and Edirol PCR80 keyboard) in Logic Pro 8 to play multiple software instruments.

My problem is this: I want to be able to control specific software instruments by their respective midi channels, and have a split keyboard, but the Edirol cannot split so this has to be done in Logic.

I've set the following so far:

- Korg padKONTROL transmitting on midi ch.10

- EXS24 (for drums) receiving on midi ch.10 (set in inspector parameters)

- Edirol transmitting on midi ch.5

- Synth 1 receiving on midi ch.5, keyzone set to left hand side of keyboard (in inspector parameters)

- Synth 2 receiving on midi ch.5, keyzone set to right hand side of keyboard (in inspector parameters)

If I tick 'Auto Demix By Channel If Multitrack Recording' and record arm all three instruments, I can play the drums (via padKONTROL) and Synth1 (via keyboard left hand side). If I untick the auto demix setting, each controller plays multiple instruments simultaneously.

I'm wondering if my Environment is setup wrong for the controller input? Here's a quick screenshot:

I've tried messing with the Channelize option you can see on the left, but this doesn't appear to make any difference.

I've spent a while reading the manual and can't find any other clues, but there's gotta be a way to this, surely?

This is starting to do my head in, and I'd be eternally grateful for a helping hand 😕

Cheers

Hi

You'll need to set each synth to a different MIDI Channel in the Inspector and use a Transform object in the Environment to do the split/channel conversion:

You could also do your keysplts here instead of in the Inspector, but this will do what you want.
