I'm trying to run boot camp to install Windows 7 on a partition and it can't find the Windows installer. I'm tried it from a USB and the Windows DVD, but neither works.
It's an 2008 iMac 2.66 Ghz 4 Gig Ram, 128 SSD running 10.7.2

I have a similar (related ?) problem.
2007 iMac (2.4GHz), 4 Gig RAM, 10.7.2.
Wiped my old Bootcamp partition and used Bootcamp Assistant to create a new Bootcamp partition.
Once the partition is created, it asked to insert the Windows installer disk (Win 7 Pro), and reboots the iMac.
However, upon rebooting, the iMac freezes. The Windows Installer never starts up. 😕
I just can't get Windows to install on the newly created partition.

My theory is that something got screwed up in the last EFI firmaware update.
I need to investigae if there is a way to downgrade.
Please let me know if you find something, I would be interested in trying that too.
Please let me know if anyone comes up with something. It's kinda frustrating considering it worked fine prior to upgrading to Lion. I ran Windows XP prior and rarely had problems besides the normal Windows issues. This seems related to Boot Camp.
It's interesting that it seems to be 2007-2008 imac that is having the problem.
It is not isolated to iMac's - i am having the exact same problem on a late 2008 15" MacBook Pro.
I have installed Windows 7 32 and 64 bit several times before with no problems, but suddentley it doesn't work.
Has anyone found the answer yet?

Could it be related to machines from 07-08? I can't believe I can't get this to work. I feel defeated.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by Boot Camp "can't" find window installer. I used BC to partition my drive and create my driver DVD. I inserted the W7 DVD and clicked install. My Mac restarted, but it did not install W7. I could see there was a BC partition on my hard drive so I tried to restart and at the "chime" hold the option key. Only my Mac and Restore drives were visible. When the computer finished restarting I inserted the W7 DVD. I restarted again and held option at the chime. This time the W7 disk was visible. I selected it and everything went great.
I expected the "Windows Installer" to come up and ask to insert disk or since the disk was already in the drive to just restart in the BC partition and install it. But, it needed a little user intervention. This was true also for the several restarts during the install process. Everytime I had to hold the option key and select the Windows partition. I suppose I could have set Windows as the default but I'm not sure.

For me, my Mac freezes BEFORE the WIndows installer can even load and start.
My Mac freezes the moment I select (Option key) the Bootcamp partition, or the Windows Installer DVD. There is nothing I can do. It just freezes.

Are you sure your iMac meets the requirements for Lion and W7? I don't see any 2007 Macs on the list?

I had no problem running the Bootcamp Assistant, preparing the partition etc.
I'm pretty certain now that the EFI is borked for 2007-08 machines.
